While having a defined thematic brief for a show before a selection procedure has begun can adhere cohesion, it can be counterproductive and restrictive to the creative freedom of the artists involved.
In this instance the true nature of the exhibition reveals itself as the work is selected and installed using the diversity of the work to highlight what these artists, as individuals, have in common, what issues they share; the condition of being an artist in the late 20th century, a period of multiple disciplines"
