Catherine Hildyard,

Studied Fine Art at Sligo Institute of Technology and graduated in 1997. Catherine has exhibited extensively in Dublin, Mayo, Sligo and Galway. A bedroom from an old abandoned 1940's cottage in the west of Ireland is the subject matter from which her current works are based. She uses the bedroom space as a metaphor reflecting her ideas of intimacy, security and her own personal experiences of life and its effect on us visually. She achieves this through the use of symbols and a layering technique achieved through glazes. The glazes represent the 'layers' that are removed in our own personal and private space: the bedroom.
