Mark Cullen: Background


Mark Cullen is an artist who has been working in various media since graduating from NCAD in 1995. MC was born in Dublin in 1972. He studied art variously in colleges around Ireland including Grennan Mill, Crawford College and University of Ulster. He graduated from NCAD with honours and commendation in Fine Art in 1995.
Since then he was the co-founding partner of Pallas Studios, Dublin. He has organised and curated many critically acclaimed exhibitions for Pallas Studios in Ireland and abroad since 1997. Cullen has been curating with Darklight Digital Film Festival since 1999. He is also a director of Pallas Heights an innovative new art space in Dublin City.

Culllen has a very eclectic practice. His works have included sculpture, video, installation, drawing and collograph prints, most recently exhibiting an installation for SITED at the Dublin FRINGE Festival. He has exhibited widely in Ireland in this time and has also shown works in London and BAM in New York. His working practice has ranged from site-specific installations in Kilmainham Goal and in Kells Priory, Kilkenny, to digital print work, as flags in Dublin Castle and C-type prints recently exhibited in the Project and around Temple Bar. He has also been commissioned to work on public art projects such as 'Shorts Shorts...' a video art project, and sculptural installations for public buildings.
