| ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ab-Ex Prints: Statement The Ab-Ex prints are abstract
representations of pathways or vectors of movement and energy. The image
is a series of connections and intersections in an abstract space. These prints take some of their influence from ideas of Brownian motion, in the study of particle physics. They are equally engaged with notions of pathways and connectivity within the real or virtual word. The title Ab-Ex is a nod to the influential work of the Abstract Expressionistic painters, particularly Franz Klien and Jackson Pollock. They do not function as a critique of their work, but are rather a development of the creative process that was begun with the automatic writings of the Dadaist movement, and the subsequent development into a form of automatic painting with the Abstract Expressionists. I perceive this Ab-Ex work as a form of automatic drawing utilising the computer as the primary tool of creation.
